Indonesia Forest Fires Turn Sky Hellish Blood-Red
With wildfires and slash farming methods burning more than 800,000 acres of forest across Indonesia, the skies over Jambi province turned blood-red due to a phenomenon called "Mie" or "Rayleigh" Scattering, when the dispersal of light particles changes because of pollutants in the air, an occurrence that frightened many local residents.
