Death Toll Climbs to 23 in Protests Against India Citizenship Law


Nine people died during clashes between police and demonstrators in the northern Indian province of Uttar Pradesh, bringing the number of people who died to 23, as protesters continue to oppose a controversial citizenship law passed by the majority nationalist Hindu government which allows amnesty to all immigrants from neighboring countries, with the exception of Muslims.
