Japan Declares State of Emergency Due to Coronavirus
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a month-long state of emergency, the first phase of restrictions in response to a spike in Covid-19 cases, for Tokyo and six other prefectures, including Osaka, Kanagawa and Fukuoka, urging his citizens to limit social contacts not as a mandatory lockdown, but rather a stay-at-home request.
