Hong Kong Makes First Arrest Under New Security Law
Police in Hong Kong detained 23-year-old Tong Ying-kit after he rode his motorcycle with a "Liberate Hong Kong" sign at a protest, their first arrest under the new separatism and terrorist security law, a measure that carries a penalty of up to life in prison, which critics say, only crushes dissidents and puts the special administrative region on the track towards authoritarian rule.
