One of the worst disasters in the history of Myanmar occurred after heavy rainfall caused a flow of waste to collapse into a lake, triggering a landslide from a nearby mountainside at a notoriously dangerous jade mine in the northern state of Kachin, trapping hundreds of workers underneath piles of mud.
