Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, a senior leader in the opposition Congress party who served from 2012-to 2017 before current president Ram Nath Kovind stepped into office, died earlier this week according to a Tweet by his son, after recently announcing that he contracted the Covid-19 virus.
