21 Runners Killed When 'Disastrous Weather' Hits Cross-Country Race in China

 

Twenty-one runners, including two of China's top marathon athletes, died after 'disastrous' freezing temperatures, hail and high winds struck part of a 62-mile cross-country mountain course which ran through the rugged Gansu province in central China, causing organizers to call off the event and launch a search party of over 1,200 people to look for survivors.
