At Least 85 Killed in Japan During 7.5-Magnitude Earthquake

 

A 7.5-magnitude New Year's Day earthquake struck Japan's Noto Peninsula, with Wajima City in the Ishikawa prefecture being the hardest hit area, followed by hundreds of aftershocks and tsunami warnings as far away as Russia, destroying homes, damaging roads and collapsing buildings, many of which were ravaged by major fires, killing at least 85 people, injuring more than 300 and causing tens of thousands to evacuate.
