The United Arab Emirates city of Dubai experienced the heaviest rainfall in 75 years this week, with a record 5.59 inches (142 millimeters) falling some places in just 24 hours, causing floodwaters to rise up to three feet in some regions, including neighboring Oman, closing (DXB) international airport, inundating neighborhoods and business districts and shutting down parts of major highways.
