A Philippine Air Force C-130 Hercules transport aircraft carrying 96 combat troops and crew members crashed after overshooting the runway during an attempted landing on the southern island of Jolo in Sulu province, killing at least 50 people, most of them recent army graduates, in what is being called one of the country's worst military disasters.
