Indonesia's Mount Semeru Volcano Erupts, Killing More Than 39

 

Mount Semeru, one of Indonesia's most active archipelago volcanoes on the island of Java erupted, shooting plumes of smoke and hot ash into the air, covering more than 100,000 homes in the nearby villages of the Candipuro district, killing at least 39 people and leaving more than 22 missing, according to the country's volcanology agency.
