Voting Rights Advocate Lani Guinier, Dead at 71

 

Voting Rights activist Lani Guinier, a law professor, the first woman of color to be tenured at Harvard Law school and embattled scholar nominated by President Bill Clinton to head the Justice Department's civil rights division before conservatives criticized her views on racial discrimination, died at the age of 71.
