A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck 25 miles northwest of the city of Herat, western Herat province in Afghanistan, completely destroying entire villages in the remote region filled with mudbrick homes, killing more than 2,400 people, injuring thousands of others and leaving hundreds still trapped underneath rubble, according to Taliban officials.
