The Pentagon says US helicopters opened fire and sank three boats in the Red Sea navigated by what it called Iranian-backed Houthi fighters from Yemen, killing 10, as a final warning to rebels who had been attacking commercial freighters in the region, including most recently a Maersk shipping vessel, which had been done in protest of Israel's military operations in Gaza, despite international calls for the group to cease.
