Contradicting previous reports that Israel had assassinated popular Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh by placing a bomb in his Tehran guest house two months prior to the attack, according to Iranian authorities, the group's leader was killed, along with his bodyguard, by a "short range projectile" fired outside the home, stating the war has now entered a "new phase" and vowed Hezbollah will target "broader and deeper" targets in response.
