Two Japanese Boxers Die From Brain Injuries at Same Event

The World Boxing Federation mourned the loss of two prize fighters, Hiromasa Urakawa and Shigetoshi Kotari, both 28, who died after fighting separate matches on the same card from subdural hematoma, a condition where blood collects between the brain and the skull, prompting the Japanese Boxing Commission to decrease all Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPFB) title bouts from 12 to 10 rounds.
