Seven Hikers Dead, More Still Missing in Italian Glacier Avalanche

 

Search and rescue teams continue to search for at least 15 missing hikers caught off guard when a portion of the Marmolada Alpine glacier in the Italian Alps collapsed, causing avalanche of snow, ice and rocks to crash down a slope where dozens of hikers and mountain climbers were on an excursion, killing at least seven people. Police arrested and charged 21-year-old Robert "Bobby" Crimo III with seven counts of first-degree murder for a deadly mass shooting at Fourth of July festivities in Highland Park, Illinois, where he allegedly planned and carried out a rooftop attack with a high-powered rifle on parade attendees weeks in advance, killing seven people and injuring dozens others. Riot, Fire at Colombia Prison Leaves 51 Dead

 

A blaze which broke out during a prison riot at the Establecimiento Penitenciario in the southwestern Colombian city of Tulua killed at least 51 people and injured dozens others, after inmates reportedly set their mattresses on fire as part of an alleged escape attempt during the chaos, according to a statement released by the head of the national prison system.
