A series of eruptions from Indonesia's Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano on the remote island of Flores spewed thick, hot ash as high as 6,500 feet (2,000 meters) into the air, falling within a radius of nearly 4 miles (6 kilometers) away from the crater, burning down small villages and homes, including a Catholic convent for nuns, killing at least 10 people.
